I think its too early to say whether PS3 will take over the console world or not, but if I had to take a balanced view right now then my money would not be on PS3.

To my mind they have made a number of mistakes:

1) price point, the console is simply too expensive

2) delay in release - 360 has a massive foothold on the market

3) online environment - the microsoft online environment, with gamertags, ease of friend invites, and the move to "live anywhere" is fantastic, where as I understand that Sonys efforts at meeting this challenge are somewhat behind. The next generation of consoles will be based on electronic software distribution - and microsoft are leading the way with that one (although I do love what Nintendo are doing with the Wii as well)

4) Blu-Ray / HD DVD - its a format battle, just like VHS/Betamax and history tells us that its not necessarily the best product that will win (Betamax was technically superior) but the one with the best marketing, availability, and customer understanding. In addition manufactur of PS3 with blu-ray drives has caused a shortage which is preventing the manufacture of good numbers of pure blu-ray players.

I don't know whether the late comer (PS3) will be good enough when it finally arrives to win the battle and be the system everyone wants/owns

I dont own a ps3, but i understand that they are effectively region free. So there is no down-side to owning a US/Japan model, although there is the obvious upside of owning one right now instead of waiting.

1) price point, the console is simply too expensive the price is brilliant for a blu ray player!

2) delay in release - 360 has a massive foothold on the market ps2 games r still selling like hotcakes so i realy dont see this as any kind of a problem

from wot i understand the ps3 online environment is gona do just about the same???

But they are not NTSC games, they are region free. NTSC refers to the format of the US broadcast system. There is no difference to playing Region 1 encoded DVDs on a PAL TV, they may be NTSC in format, but this just relates to the amount of lines the americans have (500 something compared to the 600+ we have)

This is Philmore btw
