New Phone - Constructive Comments Pls
#1
Right, the business contract I'm on is due to expire and I need some help deciding what to do...........

For the past 18 months I've been part of a business contract via Kekie's dads company - T-Mobile Business 6 handsets (Blackberrys), free calls between handsets, then the 6 users have to share 1600 mins talk any network, 500 texts, unlimited data each month. Worked out £25-£35 per month depending on usage.

I replaced my BB Curve 12 months in as I was fed up with it, Kekie's BB Bold has just broke (Bolds and Saliva from a babys mouth don't mix). So she is currently on my Curve.

Contract finishes the 12th Feb, and we are deciding what to do. Kekie's dad wants to start a new 12 month contract with T-Mobile Business for Sim Only cards. The view being - he'd pay for all the sims for the year, the users pay for the phones if they want to upgrade.

Now, I want the new iphone 5 when it's out June / July and Kekie too, but at the same time we want to get out the company contracts as basically her dad controls the contract and has a habit of cutting us cut off when he has an arguement with the Network - and has previously just cancelled a contract losing us both our phone numbers - mine which I had from when T-Mobile were Mercury and was a memorable number.

Should we get out own contracts Sim Only - T-Mobile do a 12 month £20 one with 900 mins, 500 txts and if we use the free booster - unlimited internet.

The way I see it we can shift out current numbers to it - 6 months down the line - when the iphone 5 is out we sign up to a new contract on the iphone (port our numbers over and just pay off the remaining 6 months of the contract - £120).

Or

Three do a £35 a month contract on the iphone 4. 2000mins any network talk, 5000min three to three network talk, 5000 txts and unlimited data - 24 month contract.

This would mean we would be stuck on 3 for 24 months, but we are thinking - its the best deal on talk and txts (everyone we know is paying £50 a month for the iphone 4), once the iphone 5 is out we can just buy if off contract when we want and replace the iphone 4. This could be better off long term as I'm sure the iphone 5 deals will be stupid when they come out - £50 pcm like most people now (some of whom only have 600 mins talk - some have 900). Also its £40 for the phone and where'as everyone we know had to pay upwards of £180

Whats peoples opinions - anyone know about 3 as a network?

Never got insurance - have never lost a phone, never broke one*

I did throw one against a wall in anger once smashing it up. But that was my fault and I just used an old one - I always keep a spare. Waste of money I see it.

T-Mobile are shafting all new contracts with 500mb maximum mobile broadband. Careful with the unlimited internet thing, it's not.

Difficult to know what to suggest as its dependent on your usage.

Three are picking up alot of customers with the free mobile internet and apparently they have the best coverage, I know its better than O2.

transfer your numbers to a PAYG package for 6 months, then take out your own new contracts when the new iphone is out.

I thought that, until I got one for free. I think it's the best phone/gadget I've ever owned.

Things just "work" and work well, and fast, without any problems.

Just looked at the Three network coverage and some review sites. They get best coverage for 3G network - but I read something about poor voice network coverage (I would have assumed the 3G carried the voice traffice too?) looking at their own site - they have big gaps in non-urban areas.

Either way,

Everyone seems to be saying get sims or PAYG until I want to upgrade as only a few months. Ideally I need to see the bills of mine and Kekies usage (another reason we want out her dads business contract - we have to beg for months to see our own bills). I don't talk as much as Kekie so reckon I could get away with a £15 a month sim with unlimited internet (1GB Spanky is the limit each month for new customers taking out unlimited internet as a booster - according to T&Cs dated 1st Feb 2011 - yes thats tomorrow not today)
