I bought a car, and other car talk
#1
ok, so been to bank and have secured £20000
plus some other money I have 25K to spend on a car,

top pick at the mo is a 08/09 low mileage Porsche Boxster S,
I just fancy a porsche,

any other suggestions, bearing in mind I am keeping my civic, so I don't need 4 seats or 4 doors or anything practical, its a toy.

some examples

mid life crisis comments aside.

Porsche are nice and shiney.

Or you could do that bmw mini rally thingy, not sure how much capital that takes though

Don't listen to them two muppets.....

Porsche Cayman over a Boxster easily. You ideally want a 2009 plate onwards which is when the range was revised and new more powerful engines used. EDIT* ok out of your price range - 27K minimum

Jeremy is taking the piss throughout but it is a really good car and he has admitted that in other episodes.

25K and you could go do track days in it

Me personally

faster in a straight line then the porsche by a second

Audi TTS
Lotus Exige

Both 0-60 in 5.2 or there abouts so same as Porsche - Lotus is more track day ready

I wouldn't buy an M3 cos it was faster by a second.
Whats the relevance in the real world ?

I just want a in-practical sporty car, with a strong heritage. Really they isnt anything to beat the boxster, esp if I go for a convertible.

I would consider an Exige though, but the engines dont excite me.

M3 is sporty, more than you may think has done some decent lap times, for example it's only .2 of a split second behind a Lotus Exige and I'm only using that as an example of how it is more sporty then people thing that it could basically keep up with a lighter more nimble car around the Top Gear test track.

But I will back track and say yeap go get the Boxster Spyder as it is better on track then the Cayman and is the only thing anywhere near your price range save a TVR or Evo neither of which I would recommend or would appeal to me.

I was going to suggest Lotus elise, but exige is even better. I did a track day a few years ago and drove an Elise and it was incredible, a better drive than the ferrari which was the main event
